Our History

Fine art auctioneers since 1976

Founder M. Philip H. Scott came from a Lakeland agricultural background and began his career in 1972 with Kendal & District Auction Mart as a junior auctioneer and valuer, selling livestock, general antiques and household furnishings.

After moving to Northallerton Auctions in 1975, Philip established Hutchinson Scott in 1976. The business developed through regular fine art auctions, general sales and memorable auctions of house contents held on clients’ premises.
