VAN OOSTROM, AMSTERDAM. A MID 18TH CENTURY DUTCH ORMOLU MOUNTED MAHOGANY MOON ROLLER VERGE BRACKET CLOCK the 7" shaped brass dial with mask head spandrels and silvered arcade Roman chapter ring enclosing a matted centre with alarm disc and date aperture, below a rolling moon with floral painted arch. Fronting an eight-day fusee movement with alarm, verge escapement and striking the hours two bells. The case with an inverted bell top and caryatid corners raised on a shaped apron
60cm high overall
The case is in very good condition having a nice colour and patenter with no losses. The movement is original to the case and appears to have been cleaned in recent years. It was orginally a verge and has now been converted to a anchor escapement. The half and hour strike function correctly and the quarter repeat is also functioning correctly. Dial is original to the movement and moonwork is complete.
