A GOOD PAIR OF 17TH CENTURY JAPANESE IMARI VASES AND COVERS, the shouldered ovoid bodies and covers decorated in the traditional palette with gilt-highlighted floral and oheasen decoration; the domed lids having perched birds as finials.
49cm high
The bodies are in good, undamaged condition with no cracks or restoration. One lid has a broken hole, a chip to the rim and a firing crack around the base of the finial. The other lid has a broken head to the finial, and the finial has been off, which has been reglued. The gilt decoration is worn in places. See extra images uploaded online.
