SAMUEL WHICHCOTE, LONDON. A MID 18TH CENTURY VERGE STRIKING BRACKET CLOCK WITH PULL QUARTER REPEAT the inverted bell-top case of small proportions enclosing a 6" arched brass dial with gilt masked spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with mock pendulum and calendar apertures, the arch with Strike/Silent dial fronting a five pillar eight-day double fusee movement with verge escapement and pull quarter repeat on six bells striking the hours on a larger bell, the finely engraved backplate depicting a harlequin and birds amongst scrolling leaves.
