The 8.5" shaped arched gilt brass dial fitted rococo spandrels and Turkish silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with calendar aperture and sunken silvered name plaque, two subsidiary dials above for Strike/Silent and Chime/Silent, the painted marine scene to the arch probably depicting the Bosphorus below an arched silvered engraved tune selection dial fronting a substantial triple fusee six pillar movement with anchor escapement and signed foliate engraved backplate striking the hours on a bell and playing one of seven tunes on a nest of twelve bells on twenty-one hammers - comes with original ormolu-mounted ebonised wall bracket with scrolled supports.

Charles Bosley was apprenticed on the 7th Feb 1726 for 7 years to his father Joseph and was free of the clockmaker's company in 1749. He succeeded William Kipling and continues his business which specialised in clocks for the oriental market.
