A RARE GEORGE II WORLD TIME DIAL MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK the figured crossbanded case with swan neck pediment, gilt brass lion's mask paterae and gilt brass lancet sound frets above an arched glazed door flanked by corinthian brass capped reeded columns inlaid with brass fluting on a slender trunk with shaped top door and matching reeded quarter columns raised on an inlaid canted box base with applied panel and ogee bracket feet. The 13" arched brass dial with an engraved border having unusual gilt pierced lion and unicorn spandrels and broad silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted and engraved centre with raised ringed winding holes, calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial; the silvered dial to the arch engraved with countries and cities of the world with time difference in Arabic numerals above a rotating sundial which indicates noon at the various places. The substantial eight-day weight-driven five pillar movement with arched plates and extended front plate to support the world time dial drive train, striking the hours on a bell - with original weights and pendulum
