How Shipping Works

Plan your auction delivery before you bid

Review the available shipping quote on each active lot before bidding and contact us if shipping is unavailable or you need help with an alternative delivery option.

Before the Auction

Pre-sale shipping quotes

Generate a Quote

A tailor-made shipping quote for each lot can be generated based on your delivery location by clicking the shipping tab below every active lot.

Shipping Unavailable

If a lot shows that shipping is unavailable, please contact us. We can help identify a suitable alternative delivery option.

Taxes and Customs

Shipping quotes do not include additional charges such as import taxes, customs fees or other destination-country costs.

Insurance

An insurance quote can only be provided after the item has been purchased.

After the Auction

Post-sale delivery arrangements

Shipping on Your Invoice

If you win a lot and a shipping cost has been pre-allocated, shipping will be added automatically when your invoice is created.

Multiple Purchases

If you purchase multiple lots, our shipping service will automatically combine the shipping costs to keep charges to a minimum.

Alternative Shipping

If shipping is not already included, contact us. We can arrange shipping in-house where possible or help identify a suitable shipper.

Buyer’s Authority

Every delivery must be arranged with the buyer’s authority. If someone is arranging collection or delivery for you, contact us to provide permission.

Before Paying Your Invoice

Check these important delivery details

Please resolve insurance and address changes before paying. Once payment is complete, the delivery process can begin.

Add Insurance

If you would like insurance, contact us before paying your invoice so the charge can be included.

Confirm the Delivery Address

The buyer is responsible for ensuring the delivery address is correct. If it differs from the billing address, contact us before paying so it can be amended.

Pay in Full

Your invoice must be paid in full before Hutchinson Scott or an authorised courier can make a delivery.

UK Delivery Service

Van deliveries across the UK

Some UK deliveries may be completed by van. The delivery map provides an indication of approximate timings based on location.

Once your invoice has been paid, our team or courier will contact you with a delivery date and, where possible, a time.

Alongside our other couriers, our van normally travels a week after the sale. To avoid disappointment and receive your items as soon as possible, we advise paying your invoice promptly after the auction.

CITES-Regulated Materials

Check export and import requirements before bidding

Some lots may contain materials regulated by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. These lots are marked with a † symbol.

Where required, Hutchinson Scott can arrange a CITES export permit on the purchaser’s behalf for £150 plus VAT. Buyers remain responsible for checking and complying with import regulations in the destination country.

Firearms and Restricted Items

Licences and permits are the buyer’s responsibility

Some items may require a valid firearms licence or other permit for ownership, import or export, depending on the destination country.

Prospective buyers should check the applicable laws with their local authorities before bidding. Missing documentation may delay or prevent shipment and may result in additional costs.
