Hutchinson Scott offers in-house shipping for all items offered at auction to UK delivery addresses and for most items to international locations.
Find out how to obtain a pre-sale shipping quote, arrange delivery after an auction, add insurance or organise collection from our Skipton saleroom.
A tailor-made shipping quote for each lot can be generated based on your delivery location by clicking the shipping tab below every active lot.
If a lot shows that shipping is unavailable, please contact us. We can help identify a suitable alternative delivery option.
Shipping quotes do not include additional charges such as import taxes, customs fees or other destination-country costs.
An insurance quote can only be provided after the item has been purchased.
If you win a lot and a shipping cost has been pre-allocated, shipping will be added automatically when your invoice is created.
If you purchase multiple lots, our shipping service will automatically combine the shipping costs to keep charges to a minimum.
If shipping is not already included, contact us. We can arrange shipping in-house where possible or help identify a suitable shipper.
Every delivery must be arranged with the buyer’s authority. If someone is arranging collection or delivery for you, contact us to provide permission.
Please resolve insurance and address changes before paying. Once payment is complete, the delivery process can begin.
If you would like insurance, contact us before paying your invoice so the charge can be included.
More InformationThe buyer is responsible for ensuring the delivery address is correct. If it differs from the billing address, contact us before paying so it can be amended.
Your invoice must be paid in full before Hutchinson Scott or an authorised courier can make a delivery.
The buyer is responsible for paying bank charges. Failing to do so will cause a delay in receiving your item/s.
Terms & ConditionsMegan Walker, our Post Sales & Logistics Coordinator, helps buyers with collection, shipping and delivery arrangements after an auction.
From confirming delivery details and arranging third-party collections to coordinating larger items and international shipping enquiries, Megan helps make the post-sale process clear and straightforward.
Where we can ship large or fragile items, delivery will be made using our van service. The map above indicates the timescale in which we aim to deliver your item or items.
If our van service is unavailable for your location, the map will show a list of recommended shippers covering your area.
Once payment has been received in full, your delivery will be scheduled according to the estimated delivery time shown on the map. To receive your items as soon as possible, we recommend paying your invoice, including delivery, promptly after receipt.
We will contact you within seven days of payment to confirm your delivery slot.
On the morning of delivery, you may receive a text message or email from our dispatch software, Spoke, confirming a two-hour time slot. Live tracking may also be available so you can follow our driver’s journey to your location.
Your items are safely packaged for transit and delivered door to door. Packaging is not provided for onward travel.
The service includes one delivery attempt by one person to a ground-floor room with no stairs. For larger items, please ensure suitable assistance and any necessary equipment are available at the delivery address for safe unloading.
Small items valued under £300 are insured by default through our parcel service, so no additional insurance is required.
For an individual item or combined total above £300, insurance is chargeable at 2.5% of the line total, subject to a minimum charge of £30.
For small items sent by Royal Mail, insurance can be increased to £750 for an additional £5 or up to £2,500 for an additional £10.
The insurance contract is between the buyer and the insurance broker. Hutchinson Scott acts only as an agent in arranging this service. If a claim is necessary, we can assist with the process but are not liable for the claim.
For full details of the available cover, please read the World Options Protection Plan and the Royal Mail postage compensation terms.
Some lots may contain materials regulated by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. These lots are marked with a † symbol.
Some items, including firearms and other restricted items, may require a valid licence or permit for ownership, import or export. Buyers must check the applicable laws before bidding. Missing documentation may delay or prevent shipment and may result in additional costs.
Where applicable, CITES-restricted and ivory-exempt items will be accompanied by a current CITES Article 10 licence or Ivory Exemption Declaration. As required by UK law, the relevant licence or declaration number will be included in the original catalogue description.
CITES Article 10 licences and Ivory Exemption Declarations are non-transferable. Buyers intending to sell an item to a third party must apply for a new licence or declaration in their own name.
It is the sole responsibility of the buyer and/or their appointed shipping agent to obtain the appropriate CITES re-export and import licences for the destination country before shipping can take place.
Further information about CITES regulations is available at www.ukcites.gov.uk.
