A RARE AND INTERESTING LATE 17TH CENTURY EIGHT DAY SINGLE HANDED LONGCASE CLOCK, the slender ebonised case with rising hood and moulded door enclosing a 10" square brass dial with gilt winged cherubs head spandrels and silvered chapter ring surrounding a matted centre, signed to the lower edge fronting a fully latched eight-day weight driven movement with five knopped finned pillars, the anchor escapement with bolt and shutter maintaining power and one-and-a-quarter seconds pendulum, striking the hours on the bell via an outside countwheel, the movement secured to the backboard via a shaped brass bracket.
