WILLIAM PREVOST, NEWCASTLE. A LATE 17TH CENTURY EBONISED LONGCASE CLOCK having a moulded pediment above a pierced frieze and glazed hood door flanked by barley twist columns on a slender trunk, the door with D moulded edge and oval lenticle on a box base; the 11 inch square brass dial with gilt winged cherub head spandrels and silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted engraved centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture; the eight day weight driven movement with finned knopped pillars and inside countwheel striking on a bell.
