THOMAS OGDEN, HALIFAX. AN 18TH CENTURY FIGURED MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK, the figured crossbanded case with swan neck pediment, gilt foliate paterae above an arched glazed door flanked by Corinthian gilt capped reeded columns on a slender trunk with shaped top door and matching reeded quarter columns raised on a canted box base with applied panel and ogee bracket feet. The 12 1/2" arched brass dial with a moulded border and urn spandrels surrounding a silvered chapter ring and matted engraved centre with raised ringed winding holes, calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds dial, the arch having revolving moonphase, fronting an eight-day weight-driven five pillar movement with arched plates and swan neck pendulum crutch, striking the hours on a bell.
