CHARLES JOHN COPE, RATHBONE PLACE, LONDON A RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY EIGHT-DAY MARINE CHRONOMETER WITH ENAMEL DIAL with circular signed enamel Roman dial and subsidiary seconds within a gimballed brass bowl housed in a mahogany box with brass side carrying handles and glazed viewing panel, numbered 746.
16cm square, 17cm high
The chronometer is in good working condition, but may need a service. The case is original and undamaged. The name plaque on the front of the box is enamel. The box is original to the clock, and has been cleaned but still retains a good colour and patina. The dial has three hairline cracks and a small chip to the edge. Hands are original. The case is possibly rosewood, not mahogany.
