AN EARLY 18TH-CENTURY WALNUT AND ARABESQUE MARQUETRY EIGHT-DAY LONGCASE CLOCK the hood with projecting moulded cornice above a blind sound fret, moulded side pillars and side viewing windows. The case with figured panelled sides and profusely inlaid trunk door depicting birds and scrolling foliage with a centre oval framed lenticle, a matching box base and a moulded plinth. The 12-inch square brass dial with mask head spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minute markings, matted centre with engraved date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial fronting a five pillar eight-day movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell.
