XAVIER THARIN, PARIS. A RARE MID 19TH CENTURY FRENCH AUTOMATION PICTURE CLOCK, the glazed gilt moulded frame enclosing five hand painted panels with automated parts comprising of three monkey musicians all playing instruments, a lady playing the piano, a lady feeding chickens, a river landscape with windmill, water mill and fisherman, and a street scene with four children, the clock dial with enamel face fronting an eight day spring driven movement striking the hours on a gong.

There are some losses to the frame, mainly in the bottom left corner. The windmill sails and waterwheel are missing from the centre picture. The dial has hairline cracks and damage to the winding hole. The movement is very dirty but complete but it is lacking its pendulum. The music box mechanism is missing and all the automation will need reconnecting.
