HORATIO DENNETT. AN UNUSUAL MID 19TH CENTURY WORLD TIME AND TIDAL AUTOMATION LONGCASE REGULATOR CLOCK, the slender mahogany case with panelled door enclosing an 11 1/4" arched brass dial with silvered engraved spandrels and 24-hour chapter ring with world time and single hour hand and seconds aperture to the side, the outer dial showing various world cities and places, the inner dial with phases of the moon relating to various UK towns, showing high tides at these locations, the high tide at Worthing shown by an automation seascape to the arch, the dial is signed and dated 1856. The large skeletonised month duration weight-driven movement with six turned pillars and deadbeat escapement with adjustable pallets and unusual weighted maintaining power. Original brass cased oval weight and wood rod pendulum.
