A GEORGE II SPHERICAL BALL MOON MAHOGANY LONGCASE CLOCK the figured crossbanded case with swan neck pediment, brass lion's mask paterae and eglomise glass panels above an arched glazed door flanked by turned reeded columns on a slender trunk with shaped top door and reeded quarter columns the canted box base with applied panel raised on ogee bracket feet. The 13" arched brass dial with applied D moulded border fitted gilt pierced urn spandrels and broad silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted and engraved centre with blued steel winding holes and ringed calendar aperture above a subsidiary seconds dial, the arch enclosing a rotating blued and silvered spherical ball moon and silvered days of the moon aperture fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with five finned knopped pillars, arched plates with swan neck suspension block and hour strike on a bell - with original weights and pendulum.
