A RARE AND LARGE MID 19TH CENTURY GILT AND PORCELAIN STRUT CLOCK, the octagonal gilt brass case with engraved borders and fleur-de-lys finial above a glazed panel enclosing an oval painted porcelain dial with white Roman chapter ring surrounding to figures depicting Mercury and Diana fronting an eight day spring driven movement with shaped plates and lever escapement, the back of the case having a hinged strut with roller, the domed cover inscribed C. F. HANCOCK, 39, Bruton St. LONDON, with fixed winder and sliding aperture to reveal the escapement. Numbered 1833.
