A RARE 17TH/18TH CENTURY BEZOAR STONE IN 14CT GOLD FILIGREE WORK OUTER CASE - possibly Dutch East Indies, the fine scrollwork flowerhead joined spherical casing with suspension rings.
Bezoar stones were believed to be the universal antidote against any poison. The name is derived from the Persian word 'pad zhar' meaning 'antidote against poison'
