WILLIAM WEBSTER, LONDON A FINE EARLY 18TH-CENTURY WALNUT AND MARQUETRY TRIPLE-FUSEE SIX-BELL QUARTER-STRIKING VERGE BRACKET CLOCK having an inlaid domed top with brass finials and pierced gilt brass gallery, enclosing a 9" arched brass dial with matted centre, mock pendulum and calendar aperture, the arch with strike/silent dial and recessed sunburst, fronting a substantial eight-day verge escapement movement with finely engraved backplate, chiming the quarters on six bells and striking the hour on a larger bell.

The case has been reploshed, and the door has some small srew holes filled to the top; it looks like some later embellishments may have been removed. The marquetry inlay looks period and original. The movement is original to the case; the gut on the quarter-chiming fusee train has snapped, and the verge escapement has had the pendulum suspension converted to a silk suspension. It does run but isn't striking. Looks complete but will require attention.
