A FINE AND IMPRESSIVE LARGE JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD SATSUMA KORO AND COVER SIGNED HODODA of square form with slightly bowed sides, each panel finely painted with birds and flowering shrubs within mountainous river landscapes, heightened throughout with dense gilt decoration, the shoulders and rims with diaper and floral borders on a dark cobalt ground, the domed cover pierced for incense and surmounted by a rectangular knop handle, the base with gilt-character mark, raised on a carved hardwood stand.
