ROBERT LEUMAS, LONDON A FINE GEORGE III ORMOLU-MOUNTED MAHOGANY SIX-TUNE MUSICAL AND QUARTER STRIKING CLOCK WITH VERGE ESCAPEMENT of caddy-topped mahogany case with urn finials, gilt bronze caryatid angle mounts, pierced side sound frets and ring handles, on a stepped plinth with leaf-cast scroll feet enclosing a 9" painted dial with three subsidiary dials in the arch for strike/not strike, chime/not chime and tune selection, fronting a substantial 8-day triple fusee movement with scroll-engraved backplate and verge escapement playing a selection of six tunes on twelve bells and chiming the quarters on two separate bells.

The case has been repolished, and the dial has been repainted professionally. There is a streaky split at the bottom of the front door and minor damage to the inner mask behind it. One finial is missing, and there is a very small piece of veneer missing from the back door. The movement is original to the case and, although dirty, is striking the correct hours and playing the correct tunes and is complete. Ticks on its original verge but will require a service.
