A VERY RARE 19TH CENTURY TELESCOPE CANE this exact cane illustrated on p.112 of cane specialists Coradeschi & Lamberti's book 'Bastoni dall'essenziale allo stupefacente' ('Sticks from the essential to the amazing') catalogued as cane 138, a "Captain's spyglass cane" with bone grip, brass end cap and bamboo encased shaft that unscrews halfway up to release an unsigned single draw telescope with excellent optics.
