A LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH LACQUERED BRASS GRANDE SONNERIE CARRIAGE CLOCK REPEATER OF LARGE SIZE the bow front architectural case with decorative sectional folding handle and cast moulded top above an acanthus leaf border and matching bands to the stepped base joined by ribbed corner columns enclosing an engine-turned radiating sunburst mask and silvered dial with Roman chapter ring above a subsidiary alarm dial. The 8-day two-barrel spring driven movement with original silvered lever balance escapement striking the hours and quarters on two coiled gongs; with alarm mechanism and push-button repeat button to the case top - movement numbered 11894 and with selection lever beneath base for Gde’ Sonnerie/Pte’ Sonnerie/Silence.
