A RARE LATE 19TH CENTURY GILT CASED REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH LIMOGES ENAMEL PANELS having a stepped plinth base and twisted columns with Corinthian capitals, the panels depicting winged classical figures, enclosing a black dial with gilt Roman numerals and winged cherubs signed Howell & James Ltd, London, fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement with original compensated lever escapement and alarm, striking and repeating on a gong, presented in its original Moroccan leather case.

The clock is in excellent, undamaged conditon. No losses to the gilding, no cracks or chips to the glass or Limoges panels; the movement is running on its original escapement but may require a service. Strikes and repeats the correct hours and half-hour.
