ACHILLE BROCOT, PARIS. A FINE LATE 19TH CENTURY GILT BRASS AND PORCELAIN PANELLED REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK IN THE JAPANESE STYLE having a simulated bamboo case with porcelain panels decorated with raised enamel birds and butterflies amongst gilt blossoming branches, enclosing a matching Arabic dial fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement with compensated lever escapement, striking and repeating on a gong.
19.5cm high including the handle.
The case is in very good condition, with no losses to the gilding; there is no damage to the glass panels; there are no chips, cracks or restoration to any of the porcelain panels or the dial. The movement is ticking on its original escapement, striking and repeating correctly. This clock has come from a large private collection of carriage clocks.
