A RARE 19TH CENTURY BONTEMPS, PARIS, SINGING AUTOMATION BIRD CLOCK the ormolu case with glazed central section enclosing a painted background and a brightly coloured songbird with moving head, tail and beak singing via bellows, all activated by a spring-driven movement enclosed in the base. The clock dial has a blue enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals surrounding and an engine turned centre with visible Brocot type jewelled pallets escapement, fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement striking the hours on a bell.
