A RARE GEORGE I FIGURED WALNUT AND PEWTER INLAID KNEEHOLE DESK IN THE MANNER OF COXED AND WOSTER with unusual drawer configuration having a long top drawer above eleven small drawers surrounding a cupboard kneehole centre; raised on shaped bracket feet.
108cm wide 44cm deep 77cm high
The desk is late 17th century. The back left mould to the top is loose. The top has small losses to the crossbanding; there are also scuff marks and cracks to the veneer on the top. Small losses around the edges of the drawers, and the handles are old replacements. It originally had pear drop handles to the centre of each drawer. The sides are oak, and the bracket feet are later. It would have originally had bun feet.
