A RARE 19TH CENTURY BLACK FOREST AUTOMATION “DUMPLING EATER” MANTEL CLOCK, the figured walnut case with brass string inlay surmounted by a polychrome carried automated figure of a gentleman eating dumplings, the 5 1/2" painted dial signed 'P. Dickinson, Preston' fronting an eight day spring driven two train movement with anchor escapement. - illustrated on page 141 in the Arthur Negus Guide to English Clocks by David Barker.
