EDWARD HEMINS, BICESTER A LATE 17TH CENTURY PROVINCIAL VERGE LANTERN CLOCK the brass posted case with pierced foliate frets, turned finials, bell strap and domed bell over four corner columns and ball feet, enclosing an 8" silvered Roman chapter ring surrounding a foliate engraved centre signed Ed. Hemins Bicester with single hand; fronting a weight-driven verge movement striking the hours on the bell.
41cm high, 8in diameter
The clock is complete with original verge; the lifting arm is broken but present, so it isn't striking; the going train is working, but the movement is dirty and will require a service; there is pitting in the chapter ring, and the bell straps have been repaired. Comes with weights. The spikes off the backplate are present but detached.
