A GOOD EARLY 18TH CENTURY FIGURED WALNUT SECRETAIRE CHEST ON CHEST WITH STARBURST INLAID BASE with a moulded cornice above an upper section of short and long graduated drawers and a lower section with further drawers and an arched apron centred by a fan inlay, the reeded canted corners capped with carved gilt gesso Corinthian mounts, with engraved solid brass handles, raised on bracket feet.
197cm high, 115cm wide, 59cm deep
The handles are old replacements, and there is small woodworm damage to the bracket feet and losses to the veneer. The gilt capitals are original but have small chips and losses, minor losses to the veneer and the D-mouldings around the drawer edges. There are some fine veneer cracks to the sides, but no major splits. The colour and polish are dirty and would benefit from being restored. Please see the additional images.
