JONATHAN LOWNDES, LONDON. A WILLIAM AND MARY FRUITWOOD VENEERED STRIKING VERGE BRACKET CLOCK WITH PULL QUARTER REPEAT having a domed top with brass carrying handle, enclosing a 6 1/2" square gilt brass dial with winged cherub head spandrels, silvered chapter ring, matted engraved centre, calendar aperture and strike/not strike lever, signed "Jonathan Lowndes" and "In Pall Mall"; fronting a signed eight day double fusee movement with finned knopped pillars and foliate engraved backplate, striking the hours on a bell and repeating the quarters on three smaller bells.

The movement is original to the case and the dial. The case was probably originally ebonised. The dial has its original gilding and hands; the movement appears to have been cleaned in recent years and is in good working condition, though it may require service. It strikes the correct hours and repeats the correct quarters and hours.
