STEPHEN RIMBAULT, LONDON. A MID 18TH CENTURY SCARLET LACQUER CHINOISERIE VERGE BRACKET CLOCK with caddy dome top, gilt brass carry handle and four finials, pierced side frets and shaped skirt, enclosing a 5 1/2" arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, mock pendulum and calendar apertures and strike/silent dial to the arch, fronting an eight-day double fusee verge movement with foliate engraved backplate striking on a bell.
43.5cm high (not including handle)
The movement is original to the case and in good working condition, ticking on the original verge and striking the correct hours, also striking once on the half hour. The chapter rings on the dial are a bit dull and would benefit from re-silvering. The case is also in very good condition; the front right foot has been reglued. Comes with a door key and winding key.
