A FINE LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH SILVERED GILT AND PORCELAIN REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK IN THE JAPANESE STYLE having Corinthian corner columns and enamel painted panels depicting Japanese figures and birds, enclosing a gilt Roman chapter ring and subsidiary alarm dial fronting an eight-day spring-driven movement with alarm and original compensated lever escapement, striking and repeating on a gong. - This clock is illustrated in Derek Roberts' Carriage Clock book, page 203. It was also sold in Christie's fine clock sale on the 2nd July, 2004, lot 50, for the sum of £8365.
