JOSEPH WINDMILLS, LONDON. A WILLIAM AND MARY WALNUT AND MARQUETRY LONGCASE CLOCK having a moulded cornice above a square hood and long trunk door inlaid with floral marquetry panels, raised on a plinth base, enclosing an 11" square brass dial with winged cherub head spandrels and matted centre, fronting an 8-day weight-driven movement with five finned knopped pillars and anchor escapement striking the hours on a bell.

The case has a good colour and patina and has its original base. There is a small area of repair to the marquetry on the bottom-left side of the base, and the bun feet are missing. The seatboard to the movement is original, but blocks have been added to the cheeks to raise the dial, so the movement is probably not original to the case. The latched movement is in good working condition, with nice original wheelwork, but may require service. The dial, although rubbed, retains its original gilding; the second hand is missing, and the minute and hour hands are original. Comes with brass-cased weights and original pendulum.
