A VERY RARE EARLY 19th CENTURY PROTOTYPE FRENCH SKELETON MYSTERY CLOCK with skeletonised porcelain Roman dial with gilt hands and centre seconds fronting a mystery movement with verge escapement and silk suspension having a spring driven movement concealed in the onyx base which drives a large wheel with cups on its rim to carry the bone balls, another wheel around the escape wheel drives the Archimedes endless screw lifting the balls up to the top prior to being fed onto the wheel, the white onyx base with ormolu mount depicting a classical Greek lady with harp, the clock stands on an ebonised wooden base under glass dome.
