A 17TH CENTURY GERMAN PAINTED IRON STRONG BOX of rectangular form with domed lid, painted to the front with figures in 17th century dress flanking a central strap escutcheon, the sides and lid decorated with circular motifs and key escutcheon, with drop loop handles, the interior lid revealing a complex locking mechanism with pierced and engraved plates.
25cm wide, 13cm deep, 12cm high
