DANIEL SEDDON, FRODSHAM. A RARE MID 18TH CENTURY INLAID OAK THREE TRAIN GRAND SONNERIE LONGCASE CLOCK ear border and mask head spandrels enclosing a silvered arcaded chapter ring with Roman numerals and half-hour markers, black felt-lined centre dial with leaf engraved name plaque, date aperture and seconds dial; the arch with revolving penny moon dial and date ring fronting a substantial eight-day weight driven movement with five shaped finned pillars, anchor escapement and quarter-hour strike on six bells, striking the hours on a further single bell. The arched case with blind-fretted hood, reeded pillars, and long trunk door is inlaid with a central star similarly to the plinth base. - The clock strikes the hours and quarters every quarter of an hour, making it a very rare feature.
