DANIEL DELANDER, LONDON. AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY 8-DAY BURR WALNUT LONGCASE CLOCK the 12" square brass dial with crown and cherub spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and five-minute markers enclosing a matted centre with seconds dial and date aperture fronting an eight-day weight driven movement with five finned pillars, inner count wheel strike and anchor escapement. The caddy topped case with long trunk door having book-matched veneers; standing on a square base with double plinth - Ex. The Percey Webster collection

Daniel Delander, London apprenticed in 1692 to Charles Halstead was admitted to the clockmaker's company in 1699. He was servant to Thomas Tompion. He moved in 1712 from Devereux court to Temple Bar. He was a maker of many fine clocks with equation work, long duration, and also watches. Clocks and watches by him are in many famous museums and collections.
