A FINE JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD LACQUERWORK WRITING BOX the lid with gold flecks on a black ground and relief gilt decoration depicting foliage on a rocky outcrop, the underside of the lid depicting a house beside a lake with mountainous background concealing a fitted interior of small compartments and shaped inkwell centralised by a gilt metal pad.
