A RARE MID 19TH CENTURY FRENCH CAPUCHINE REPEATING CARRIAGE CLOCK the rectangular brass case with hinged side and back doors surmounted by a hinged handle with visible cylinder escapement (originally with a domed glass lenticle) above an enamel dial with Roman numerals signed to the centre ' LEON CLEMENT BOURGEOIS, A MOREZ JURA' fronting an eight-day spring driven movement striking and repeating on a bell mounted in the base with alarm
15cm high handle up
The case is in nice condition. The dial has hairline cracks running from the centre outwards. The movement is complete and the alarm functions correctly, however it does not strike the hours so will require attention. Both springs on the time and strike sides are working. It has its original cylinder escapement which is ticking. The movement would strike the hours and half hours as it does set up ready to strike. Doesnt seem to set up after the scheduled strike. The aperture on the top of the case is 35mm diameter.
